Dining Room Wallpaper: From Casual to Fine

The dining room may technically be designated for dining, but more often than not, it’s the place where we come together to chat and entertain. A meal is only one element that sets the scene. Dining room décor spans everything from laid-back to lavish, and wallpaper can similarly help create a warm, welcoming environment or add a touch of elegance to impress your guests. For those who are feeling adventurous, the right dining room wallpaper can even become a talking point that lingers with your guests long after they’ve left. Here are some outstanding examples of dining room wallpaper styles done right.

This dining room is simply stunning! The installation of the Viva Tropicana design infuses the space with a sense of glamour and vibrancy. This Hollywood Regency style not only adds an extra layer to dinner table conversations, but it’s bound to make you exclaim, “Wow! Look at that wallpaper!” Like everything in this room, it’s daring, opulent, and sophisticated.

For those with more traditional tastes, Courtney from @heart.and.home.crew opted for a French-inspired look in her 119-year-old home. The Belle Fleur design in Dusty Blue introduces gorgeous floral patterns in a soft colourway, creating a charming and elegant dining atmosphere.

Another example of traditional style, @yorklynhome combined a chinoiserie style with a rustic farmhouse feel. The delicate beauty of the climbing florals contrast with the exposed beams offering balance to what would otherwise be an entirely organic space.

If mid-century modern design is more your style, you might lean towards something geometric that complements the clean, angular lines of your furniture. Brandi from @the.hectic.eclectic chose the Hudson design, with its gentle texture, to bring visual interest to her bright, minimalist style.

Many contemporary styles aim to incorporate natural and organic elements indoors. Here, two examples show similar designs in different colours, each bringing a fresh touch to the room.

Some interior enthusiasts have dining rooms designed to mix things up, embracing different styles and finding clever ways to blend them all together.

One example is interior designer Gabbi Zaccheria (@gabbizaccheria) from Wilmington, North Carolina. Her dining area combines a hint of country with modern touches and bold colours. In this photograph by Andrew Sherman, she used the Shibori Star design in the Ocean colourway.

In another example of an eclectic dining space, Stephanie Watkins pairs her Gadara wallpaper with bohemian accents, including a vibrant ikat rug and orange drapes. This space sets a cheerful tone for gatherings and is sure to lift everyone’s spirits.

Not every dining room needs to stand out. Sometimes, a subtle aesthetic sets just the right tone. Jaci from @jaci.daily perfectly matched her pendant lighting with her Marble & Copper Tile wallpaper. The geometric design adds an engaging detail to the wall without overpowering the room. It’s a truly relaxing place to be.

We’ve come across inspiring uses of dining room wallpaper – bold, subtle, bright, dark, and everything in between. Almost every example reflects the homeowner’s unique taste and respects the room’s current setup. Wallpaper, as a design choice, has an undeniable power to transform. However, factors like natural light in the space should be considered. Choosing a wallpaper that ties in with existing elements, such as furniture or chandeliers, helps ensure that your dining room radiates a harmonious, cohesive aesthetic.
